Some parks feature beautiful gardens which add a burst of colour when in bloom. Take the time to smell some of the large range of magnificent roses in Elizabeth Park. It was originally the Newtown Cemetery which closed in 1873.
Furber Park is another wonderful spot worth visiting. Enjoy a leisurely river cruise which departs from the marina at the end of the historical Wharf Street precinct.

| Mary
River |
|
Originating in the Maleny district, the Mary winds its way for over 300km through Gympie and Maryborough before flowing into the Great Sandy Straight at River Heads, across from Fraser Island. The Mary River was once the lifeblood of Maryborough, originally a port city, and still has a lot to offer not only as a peaceful haven for a variety of pleasure craft but also as a source of some excellent fresh water fishing. The river provides a beautiful backdrop for a lovely city.
