Welcome
to Maryborough - the Heritage City. Located about 3 hours drive north of Brisbane,
and 34km south-west of Hervey Bay, nestled in a curve of the Mary River. Maryborough has a rich history reflecting the wealth of the area in which it was established. The city was first settled in 1847 as a wool port and is one of Queensland's oldest cities.

| Heritage
Markets |
|
Maryborough comes alive every Thursday with thousands of people visiting one of the cities major tourist attractions - the Heritage Markets.
Around 150 stalls are set up in the central business district packed with arts and crafts, foodstuffs, fruit and vegetables, clothing, books, flowers, plants and even floor coverings.
Entertainment from bush bands, group displays, demonstrations and buskers combine to create a slice of the colonial days. At precisely 1pm the Town crier steps forward and fires a time cannon down the main street. The unusual spectacle and the generated noise are always popular with the crowds.
