Buildings which have been lovingly restored through the years stand witness to the pride placed in Maryborough's heritage. The city's special charm can best be discovered either through Maryborough's Heritage Walk, which takes in 28 key historical buildings, or via a Driving Tour, covering nearly 80 buildings, historical sites and points of interest.

Maryborough, first settled in 1847, is Queensland's third oldest city, and has earned the title of The Heritage City, by paying loving attention to it's illustrious past. Buildings which have been lovingly restored through the years stand witness to the pride placed in Maryborough's heritage.

The city's special charm can best be discovered either through the popular Maryborough's Heritage Walk, which takes in 28 key historical buildings, or via a Driving Tour, covering nearly 80 buildings, historical sites and points of interest. For an atmosphere of old world charm, visit the Wharf Street Heritage Precinct comprising many of Maryborough's early buildings.
 
Baddow House

Historic Baddow House is one of the fascinating examples of authentic, early Queensland architecture. Built at the end of Queen Street in Maryborough in 1883, Baddow House is a building with significant historical significance and has been faithfully restored to it's former glory and fully furnished with authentic period furniture, colonial, Australiana and museum pieces.
 
Olds Engine House

Olds Engine House houses a collection of famous models by one of Australia's foremost model engineers, William Olds (1890-1977). The engineering works and foundry, still operating, has a reputation for variety and quality and is fascinating for visitors of all ages.
 
Woocoo Historical Society Museum

The Woocoo Historical Society Museum is situated at Brooweena, 50km west of Maryborough, and provides an insight to what early life in the area was really like. Inside, past the massive Aboriginal rock carvings flanking the front steps, daily life in peace and war, schooling, recreation and working life are all depicted.
 
Brennan & Geraghty's Store

Another important historic landmark is Brennan and Geraghty's Store in Lennox Street, opened in 1871 by Irish immigrants, Patrick Brennan and Martin Geraghty. and now a significant museum of Maryborough's commercial and social history.

The store has been restored by the National Trust, and a visit here is like stepping back in time to the atmosphere and charm of the early Queensland general stores. The store opened as a museum in 1990 and is the only grocery store museum in Australia that is intact with it's original contents including unsold stock and invoices, accounts and ledgers. The store is open 10-3 daily.
 
The Bond Store

The Bond Store Museum is a Maryborough City Council project. The museum was officially opened in 1995 and houses displays on immigration/kanakas, history of the Bond Store, Port of Maryborough, early exploration and settlement, Queensland house builders' wall and the Maryborough Sugar factory. Opening hours Mon - Fri 9am-4pm and Weekends 10am-1pm.
