One of the many local attractions is Fraser Island. Fraser Island is the world's largest sand island and is World Heritage listed. The island's
dingoes are believed to have the greatest level of genetic purity of any dingo population remaining in eastern Australia. There are numerous day trips available to the island and the accommodation on the island ranges from camping to first class resort.
Fraser Island is an attraction that shouldn't be missed.
Whale
Watching season in the calm, protected waters of Hervey Bay is from
late July to early November. The humpback whales are enormous,
fascinating and awesome to watch. Visitors on whale boats are often
surprised by by how close the whales come to the boats. They are
inquisitive and very active on the surface, slapping their tails and
often breaching above the water. The best way to appreciate the beauty
of the whales is see them for yourself. It's an encounter you're
sure to remember.
